About me

I got my Ph.D. degree from Monash University in 2020, and now I am a Research Fellow at Nanyang Technological University.

My research interest is on cybersecurity, in particular Database Security, Data Privacy Cloud Security and Applied Cryptography. I have published a number of papers in top security conferences or journals such as ACM CCS, ESORICS, IEEE Trans. Dependable and Secure Computing, IEEE Trans. Information Forensics and Security. During my Ph. D. study, I mainly focus on developing new and advanced data privacy protocols such as searchable symmetric encryption (SSE), which enables the cloud to search any encrypted data without knowing the content and the query while preserving practicality and efficiency. Currently, I am learning MPC in the head and try to use the technique to improve SSE. At the same time, I am participating in a joint project of NTU-PayPal, which helps PayPal develop a secure MPC cryptosystem. In this project, I need to prepare the documents (i.e., slides) and communicate with the people from the PayPal side to help them understand the underlying scheme.

Very recently, I also tried to explore other de-centralized encrypted database systems such as those implemented with blockchain, and I was actively involved in the research of privacy-preserving contact tracing, which will have an important impact to the society during the outbreak of COVID-19.

In terms of supervision experience, I have co-supervised two master students. One of the students, Randolph Loh from Monash University, has graduated in 2019. Another student, Zhimei Sui from East China Normal University, has visited Monash in 2018 and graduated in 2019. During the supervision, I have two joint papers with them, respectively.

Until today, I have received more than 700 citations and my H-index is 10, according to Google Scholar.
